On 12/28/22 we dropped our newest Collection, "The Magician" by Ruben Tattooben! Here's a behind the scenes look at how it went!

December 12, 2022 at 7:36pm: Ruben sketches all six of the designs on tracing paper.

 

December 18, 2022 at 7:44 PM: More designing

 

December 18, 2022 at 8:17pm: We usually name our pieces last, but at this moment, we decided this one would be "Sad Boi".

 

December 18, 2022 8:28pm: Ruben creates a mock-up of what pieces will go where on the 11x14 sheet.

 

December 20, 2022 at 6:23 PM: Once the designs are sketched, they are scanned and sent to Ruben's iPad. 

 

 December 20, 2022 at 6:24 PM: Once the designs were on the iPad, Ruben did a mock-up of the sheet. This is when Ruben decided "Sad Boi" didn't fit into this collection (wrong vibe and size).

 

December 21, 2022 8:02pm: Ruben traces his sketches in black and prints and prints them on paper.

 

December 21, 2022 8:06: Ruben rounds the edges and tapes this paper behind the watercolor paper.

 

December 21, 2022 8:39pm: Sexy nib time! Ruben traces the designs on to the watercolor paper with a nib pen.

 

December 21, 2022 at 8:38 PM: The sheet is almost outlined. Only one more design to go.

 

Dec 21, 2022 at 8:44 PM: The sheet is outlined! But, Ruben decided the heart wasn't up to Girls & Roses standards so the whole sheet got scrapped!  

 

Dec 21, 2022 at 8:44 PM: Time for Revision 2!

 

Dec 26, 2022 at 11:29 PM: Ruben repeats the same process over again, and paints the new sheet. The heart was replaced with the fingers crossed design.

 

Dec 26, 2022 at 11:29 PM: The sheet is almost done! 

 

Dec 26, 2022 at 11:29 PM: Once the sheet is dry, Ruben tapes the outline to prepare it for coffee staining.

 

 

Dec 26, 2022 at 11:29 PM: Ruben coffee stains the sheet.

 

Dec 28, 2022 at 10:12 AM: Once the sheet is dry, Ruben removes the tape.

 

Dec 28, 2022 at 10:13 AM: Here's what the sheet looks like after it's stained!

 

Dec 28, 2022 at 10:13 AM: Ruben stamps the sheet with our logo.

 

Dec 28, 2022 at 10:23 AM: Now Ruben signs the sheet.

After our sheets of flash are complete, they are named, scanned, and made bookable!
